Where is Playas Del Coco in Costa Rica?

Playas del Coco is a beach town on the Guanacaste province coast. It's only 20 miles from Liberia, the largest town in Guanacaste. It's affectionately known as Coco Beach.


It's only a brief 35-minute drive from Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport in Liberia. From the airport, it's easy to take a taxi, or there are several car rental companies from which you can rent a vehicle. The roads are in great condition, but if you plan to adventure around the country, a 4WD SUV is recommended.


From Juan Santamaría International Airport in San Jose, its' a 4-hour drive. There are transportation companies and car rental companies with which you can arrange transport. There are also small charter flights that will take you from Juan Santamaría to Daniel Oduberairport. These flights are approximately 45 minutes long.


Once on the road, you can always reference Google Maps or Waze to get you to your destination.

 

What to do in Playa Del Coco?

Playas del Coco and surrounding areas are packed with fun activities for tourists and residents alike. Besides the beautiful beaches, you'll be able to experience surfing, golf, canopy zipline tours, hot springs, scuba diving, fishing, national parks, horseback riding, day spas, kayaking, and much more.

The town also has an eclectic variety of incredible restaurants and fantastic nightlife. It's safe to say that you'll never be bored at Coco Beach. It's one of many reasons why people from around the world flock to Coco Beach for a dream vacation.


Is Playas Del Coco safe?

Costa Rica in general, is a very safe and peaceful country. Playas Del Coco, in particular, is considered one of Costa Rica's safest towns. Even at night, the town is well-lit, and you can feel secure. There is a large police presence and a very low crime rate.


Can foreigners buy real estate in Costa Rica?

When is the green season in Costa Rica?

The green season, also known as the rainy season, is from May thru November. It's referred to as the green season because the rain nourishes the plants, and throughout the country, from grass to trees and everything in between, the scenery is greener; it's quite beautiful. In Playas del Coco, you can expect the temperature to cool about 5-10 degrees. Usually, each afternoon you'll experience light showers for about an hour. After the rain, the skies typically clear up, and the sunshine returns until the stunning sunset.
